A graduate of Drake University Law School, Mr. Opperman was a major benefactor for their new law library. In 1970 Opperman took one of the leading publishers of law books into the digital age creating Westlaw a major online legal research service.

Four life size figures bronze
Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa
The sculpture was commissioned by Iowa Methodist Medical Center in memory of those who gave their lives in service to emergency medicine. The figure is used to symbolize the spirit and dedication of these individuals. The piece is site specific to the hospital courtyard and is accessible to the patients as well as the public, and provides a quiet place for contemplation and reflection .

A tribute to Virginia Horne Henry, who was dedicated to the pursuit of womens lifelong learning skills, particularly in women’s physical education. The sculpture is an attempt to capture the qualities she exemplified: health, vitality and leadership.
